From Nirvana Motorsports come these beautiful billet oil drain plugs - one for your deep sump Ducati motors or one for your non-deep sump model. These lightweight aluminum plugs are pre-drilled and come with a removable and replaceable, very strong earth magnet. These items are direct replacements for your OEM plug. They have a hex bolt style head making it very easy to remove with no special tools.
The deep sump model fits Ducatis such as the 748R, 749R, 996R, 998R, late 999, 1098, and 848. If you are not sure if your bike needs the deep sump or non-deep sump plug, be sure to ask.
OEM plugs have very weak magnets that are located inside the case. Trying to replace the magnet and re attaching it securely is difficult and you risk the chance of the magnet getting loose with vibration and causing damage inside engine. OEM plugs are also very difficult to safety wire. This design is very unique. The lightweight plug is recessed from the outside. The strong magnet is then inserted on the outside within the plug. It will attracted filings/flakes through the bottom of the plug. The magnet can be replaced in the future with a new magnet. The small magnet will be secured by you when you are ready to use the plug by using a small amount of adhesive (glue). That way you will know how to remove it in the future. It also is designed with a hex bolt that is drilled so that it can be easily safety wired for the track or street.
